Wayne Rooney has reiterated his allegiance to Manchester United, explaining that he does not intend to leave unless he is asked to do so by the club.
Spanish giants Barcelona are believed to be interested in adding the Red Devil into their armoury, but the striker insists his future lies at Old Trafford.
"It is nice to be noticed but I have said before, I am really happy at United," Rooney is quoted in the Press Association as saying.
"Unless they tell me otherwise, I can't see myself leaving."
The Old Trafford favourite revealed that he and the club were set to negotiate a new contract in due course.
"I have got two years left on my contract after this year and I am sure we will be negotiating a new deal in the next few months," he said.
"I love the place. It is 30 minutes from home and all my family, and I have got a great chance of winning trophies."
'Roo' went on to talk about his ambitions at United, explaining that he would like to be spoken of in the same breath as the legendary Eric Cantona.
"Although I was an Everton fan, I loved watching United play," he confessed.
"I probably started watching them from about 1994. Cantona was brilliant in that team.
"He had something about him. You looked at him and he was so fearsome. And that was just on the television.
"Imagine playing up against him?
"They won a lot of trophies too. But it was more than just that.
"It was the way they played and attacked. The way they played right to the end. They scored all those last-minute goals, which showed their desire to want to keep going.
"Now, I am there and I have won trophies there myself. I just want to win more."

Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini has cleared the air in regards to defender Simon Kjaer's departure, insisting that no club has asked for the 20-year-old Danish international.
Rumours are now circulating that Manchester United have entered the picture, and are closely monitoring the starlet. Milan and Juventus have also been linked with showing an interest in the Dane.
"Neither Manchester United, nor any other European club have asked for Kjaer," insisted the Rosanero president to Sky.
"The voices about his departure were started up by his agent, who is trying to earn some extra money."
Despite the assurances that Kjaer will not be leaving Sicily any time soon, Zamparini revealed the asking price for the defender, should anyone be interested.
"Our defender, in any case, costs €12 million, but in January, he is surely not going anywhere," Zamparini added.

Scot admits he had opportunities to leave Old Trafford.
Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that several foreign clubs have approached him in the past with a view to managing them, yet he has never wanted to leave Manchester United.
The Scot arrived at Old Trafford in 1986 and has gone on to claim enormous success, guiding the Red Devils to 11 Premier League titles and two Champions League wins.
His track record is unrivalled in the modern game and, speaking to the News of the World, Sir Alex admitted it had tempted several clubs to approach him.
I've had offers from clubs to go abroad, but I've never been tempted by them," admitted the 67-year-old.
"I am not going on record to say who they are, but you'd be surprised by the names.
"It flies over your head and you get on with life. You don't leave Manchester United."
Next up for Ferguson is a trip to face Chelsea on Sunday at Stamford Bridge, a ground on which he has failed to win in the Premier League since 2002.

Barcelona are preparing to launch a world record £85 million raid for Manchester United's superstar striker Wayne Rooney, according to the News of the World.
The tabloid claims that the Camp Nou board hopes to exploit the Red Devils' financial concerns in order to top Real Madrid's £80m purchase of Cristiano Ronaldo last season.
Sir Alex Ferguson is yet to reinvest the money brought in from his Portuguese protege's departure, and it is thought that the Old Trafford club's debts are preventing him from doing so.

United memang masih ingin menambah pemain berbakat ke dalam skuadnya di sektor gelandang. Manajer Sir Alex Ferguson dikabarkan sangat yakin bahwa pemain yunior tim nasional Yunani itu adalah kandidat yang sempurna untuk skuadnya.

United are another step closer to retaining the Carling Cup after seeing off a spirited challenge from Championship side Barnsley.
The Reds made the perfect start at Oakwell, taking a sixth-minute lead when Danny Welbeck buried a free header from Anderson’s right-wing corner. A masterclass in finishing from Michael Owen early in the second half sealed a place in the last eight of the competition, despite Gary Neville's red card then reducing United to ten men.
The night was also notable for Gabriel Obertan's senior debut, more than three months after signing for United. The Frenchman completed a full 90 minutes, switching from one flank to another and showing flashes of promise.
Obertan started on the right and helped to create United's early breakthrough with a jinking run on that flank. The corner he forced was whipped in by Anderson and although he had defenders on either side of him, Welbeck was unchallenged as he nodded the ball past former United goalkeeper Luke Steele.
The cool-as-you-like youngster nearly had a second reason to show us his Usain Bolt style celebration when he killed a ball into the Barnsley box with a sublime first touch and fired in a low strike that Steele did well to save. It was an impressive move, even if Owen was in a position that cried out for a pass rather than a shot from Welbeck. A third chance for Welbeck was more difficult, his header sailing high and wide from Obertan's cross.
